Evaluation of G321 foundation portfolio project - the opening two minutes of a new film

Im our media product we have adopted many different shot types, editing and sequencing from other existing mediea products we did this as we have evidential proof that these existing techniques have been used, ending up with a great impact on the viewers of the media product we have used shot types such as close - ups and ellipsis we used these especialy in the genre that we choosen, this being action thriller, to creat alot of suspense making the film accurate in its aim to thrill and the ellipsis to creat tension and quick pase action. we used sound effects as gunshots to make the movie more realistic and a suberbia naibourhood to creat a sense of eqalibrium that is gradualy shatterd through the film. We used music such as heavy metal, this enables the film to astablish the rough and toughness of the movie. The mise-en-scene in the first two minutes diplays as tranquility and peacefullness this creats a sense of synister actions such as killing harmless people. The sequencing used creats tension as it starts moderatly slow and builds up more and more through the 2 minutes of the opening. We used technical aspects such as slow motion which creats the effect of things slowing down, for example why the charecter is shot it slows down which makes the viewers feel the impact of a near end or slowing of the heart or mental state. we changed things from the expected genre aspects such as the lack of graphical violence we have in our media product as most viewers of the genre expect more than less.

In our media product we have represented a series of social groups and two of them are displayed in the first two minutes of the film. one of them is a 'lone wolf' this is the hitman he i known as a lone wolf as he has no social skill and no intension of interaction with the rest of the world. the only thing he knows and knows well is how to assasinate. the onther interaction into the world is his clients who give him instructions and information of what they want doing. The other one that is presented is a civillian, in the film these are represented as poeple who lead a normal life but if people dont like them enough that they want them dealt with then they will become the hitmans business as a target.

The media institution to most lickley to distribute to our media product wouldbe tentieth century-fox film corporation, as they distribute to many other films and tv series that generalise in the action thriller genre.
Films such as:

Hitman (2007) Directed by Xavier Gens

This film also has a similar story line to our product which shows that the chance that twentieth century-fox would distribute to our film.
The audience that our media product is aimed at is ranges from the age of 15 to young adult as the certificate is 15 with it having mild violence and thrilling action whith tense moments. As these aspects of films attract such poeple but not so much the older audience.
There are many things that i have learn that has extended my knowlage of the media indutry, such as the filming part, i have lernt many thing such as the shot types and names and the impact that cirtain shot types will have on the audience. For example an ellipsis shot will create tension and fast pass actions, and can also be used to show a series of events that are happend over time. The editing techniques i have used have lernt me to create seemless transitions and a fluent media product.
From the preliminary task from start to finish through the progression of my knowlige knowing that for single scenes there can be many different shots and shot type that you may want or need to experement with to get the right impact and mood towards the audience.

DETAILED TREATMENT

In the film I have made I have constructed a series or meanings and feelings that have a simple purpose to have a specific impact of the genre i have chosen for my film.

The scene starts in black and white with the camera looking at the alarm clock with the time on the clock suggests he is in a rough state as it is in late morning, this also may give us the idea that something has gone wrong and creates tension. This has an impact on the audience as it will put them in a position of wanting to know what has happened and what is going to happen.

When the character walks into the bathroom there is a black and white transition to colour and a blur effect that the camera automatically made when the light is turned on. This shows that the character is not focused and puts the characters feelings into perspective.

when the victim steps out on the balcony there is a camera viewing from and unknown characters sniper scope that is aiming at the victim. this creates allot of suspense as the audience automatically know that something bad is going to happen.

At the end of the opening there is a scene where the victim is killed, this is done with the camera following the victim which then reveals the killers hand pointing a gun at him but still hiding his identity. there is a non-dietetic heartbeat sound which helps to make suspense.
